Welcome to our newest piece, Words of Wisdom Wednesday. Every week we will offer you insight for some of the toughest questions askable. Need a toughy answered, send us the question and we will be able to offer you sound advice. Today’s tough question:
How come hot dogs come in packages of 10 and buns come in packages of 12?
Yuri: People have often wondered this. I see no reason to wonder anymore. The solution is simple. Hot dogs are for BBQs, and what else do you eat at BBQs? Salad. Obviously the hot dog companies are well aware of this and here they have prepared you with 2 extra buns to toast and use as croutons for your salad. All hail the King Schneider!
Dr. Awesome: Easy one. Hot dogs always have litters of 10 and everyone knows buns come in bunches of 12 off the tree.
DarkJ: Greed. As a corporate business, it is their goal to soak the consumer as much as possible, because the bottom line is profit. If all they do is stab the consumer in the back, you think they are going to lose any sleep over that? I think not. It’s all about the profit, as can be explained by the following equation:
10 Hot Dogs + 12 Hot Dog Buns + ??? = Profit!
As it turns out, to make it come out even, you’d have to buy 6 packs of hot dogs and 5 packs of buns (profit!).
